Okay. I feel like
giving a few movie comments today. First off? "The Grudge",
the US "remake" of
"Ju-On: The Grudge". I refer to it as a "remake"
in that it isn't. It's based on it, but calling it a remake is
just
ridiculous. That's American writers for you. They change
the movie
but hire the original director and want everyone to think its the same
film. *rolls his eyes* Anyhow, the US version definately
has some
visually creepier moments. There's a scene in a stairwell that is
unique to the US version and it's definately worthwhile. The did
toss
out the reason for why you should care who the ghosts are, though, as
well as several very key scenes. Not key to the story, but key to
making a better movie. Examples include a scene with several
terrified
schoolgirls that builds tension with silence and key moments of
screaming to make for one of the creepiest moments in "Ju-On: The
Grudge", even though there are no ghosts in that scene. Another
example would be the "peek-a-boo" scene where the movie scares you
without you even seeing it coming... and in an oddly humorous way,
too. So, all in all, I'd say that "The Grudge" isn't a bad scary
movie... it's just a sub-par version of "Ju-On: The Grudge".
Next on the list is "Samurai Fiction". As the makers call it, "A
samurai movie for the MTV generation!" Humor, cool samurai,
guitar
riffs, ninjas, yaoi jokes, oh yeah. It's all there. There's
no reason
to not see "Samurai Fiction" if you get a chance. It's three
slices of
awesome. Or something. *laughs*
