I figured that it didn't
make sense to fully explain
what Z-san is doing in the comic since while he might think about it in
a general sense, he has no reason to give a full explaination to
himself. It's also not really all that important, but if you are
curious....
The Gamecube games version of Sakura makes a large use out of numerous
projectiles. Most of her move combos involve finishing up with a
volley of pink stars and she's the only character that can make them
home in on a target. Thus it is fair to state that the main
strategy of a Sakura player is use her numerous projectiles to keep her
foes away from her until she wants them up close. Simple
enough. Now, who were the first fighting game characters to use
this style? Oh, that's easy enough. Just look back to the
game that starting fighting games... that's right, good old "Street
Fighter II"... projectile game by both Ryu, Ken and Dhalism to an
extent for the player... but the real king of projectiles was none
other than Sagat. And he goes all the way back to being the boss
of the first "Street Fighter". It's all about the high Tiger
Shot, low Tiger Shot... rinse, repeat, laugh evily.
So now you have that... Z-san choose to alter the game some... which he
is able to do as an Altar of YAOI... much as Tim was about to do for
his pawn since Tim is stealing away the power of the Bishie of
Love. In many ways Sakura and Sagat resemble each other gameplay
wise as it's all about throwing fireballs, so Z-san has used that as an
"excuse" to alter Sakura to resemble Sagat more and thus gain access to
many of Sagat's signiture attacks... though Z-san needs to alter the
naming of them to suit Sakura... and thus the punch line.
I know, I know. I am an idiot. *nods*
